Anarchist Study Circle - May Day Breakfast Edition

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the special occasion of May Day, we have decided to change the usual date (Every first Wednesday of the month 17:00 - 19:00) to the first of May 09:00 - 12:00. The May Day tradition is heavily intertwined with anarchist history, making it interesting to explore in the Anarchist Study Circle.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Expect a relaxed gathering around food and drinks, presentations around selected authors and texts by the hosts, and common reading of short excerpts of the texts followed by discussions.
Breakfast will be provided. We also invite participants to bring whatever they want to share at the table, but this is no requirement. Feel free to just come and eat!

This time our bibliography consists of the following texts:
- Alan MacSimóin: The anarchist origins of May Day
- Reclaim May Day! An anarchist history
- Peter Linebaugh: The incomplete, true, authentic and wonderful history of May Day
Short presentations around the authors and the selected texts will be given. Then, we will read short excerpts of the texts together.
Copies will be provided and read during the meeting, no need to look at it beforehand.

The Dream Academy invites you to dig deeper into the topic of Anarchism in a comfortable group setting. Anarchism is a political theory and movement aiming to abolish hierarchies and authority. As a theory, it has remained important for at least 400 years for presenting a solid alternative to contemporary capitalist structures.

As lines of thinking within Anarchism are as numerous as the stars on the sky, this study circle aims to dig deeper into Anarchism and create a general understanding of the subject as an interest. It attempts to dismantle some of the most common and superficial stereotypes, such as anarchists being a main cause of chaos and destruction, and look for useful approaches and new perspectives and share knowledge on current political theories. By no means does anyone need to identify as an anarchist, nor sympathize with anarchist ideals to join the study circle.

The Anarchist Study Circle will take place on every first Wednesday of the month from 17:00 - 19:00 at Tromsø Kunstforening. It is both for total newbies to anarchist theory as well as to more advanced.

The Dream Academy is a self-organized, experimental art academy for everyone. The Dream Academy builds on the premise that art education is a form of lifelong learning where artistic practice, theoretical reflection and everyday life meet.
