Fixing group with Material Bank for Creative Projects (MBKP)

Why not bring it to MBKP's fixer workshop! Here you can meet other curious fixers in a group setting where we will help each other find creative and functional solutions with the tools and knowledge at hand.

To fix is ​​for us to show care: for the thing that has been broken, for those who once made it (and maybe fixed it), and for those who have enjoyed the thing through the ages. Everyone who fixes, or wants to fix, is welcome to join the fixing group. It is an international community without borders and without knowledge of each other - but we can do something about that. We start here.

We have handheld tools for working with wood, metal and textiles; words and thoughts, as well as the internet and fixing-related reading material.

The workshop is held by Ingrid Søgaard, Robert Julian Hvistendahl and Herman Skrinde for the Materialbank for Creative Projects (MBKP). We are three artists who are more than moderately interested in the things we interact with, and how we can take care of them.

MBKP houses the leftovers and crumbs from the art scene in Tromsø. Materials are available in exchange for a suggestion; what should happen next after you take it from the bank? Many of the materials have had long lives, others are completely unused. The materials are sorted, piled up, leaning against each other and stacked. One after the other, around each other, on top of each other. On shelves, cabinets and on the floor.
