TKF is organising an Arts and Access Club for artists with lived experience of access barriers to making or experiencing art related to neurodiversity, d/Deafness, disability or sickness*. The idea is to think about access in the arts by making art and not just talking!
We will explore artworks and read artistic and critical disability studies texts. We’ll use our own creative practices and perspectives to respond and make new work.
*This also includes chronic illness (e.g. autoimmune conditions, asthma, diabetes etc.) and mental health conditions. Self identification is enough, you do not need to have a specific diagnosis to attend. If you are not sure if the club is for you, it probably is.
~
We have space for 5 artists, and we are able to offer a small grant to support your creative work during the club of 3000NOK per person. This can be used to cover costs of travel, materials, or however you wish.
During the club, you can work on a small artistic outcome eg. a zine, a poem, a song, a photograph, a series of memes, a tiny film, dance or performance. There will be a possibility to share with the group, if you’d like to. You can continue with something you’re already working on, and think about how to integrate ideas from the club into your ongoing practice. You can spend as much or as little time as you like on the creative work you do outside of the club. The purpose of the club is to bring together artists who need this kind of space and to think about what access might be able to offer our practices and how we share them.
