The Dream Academy will start the fall semester with an introductory seminar, workshop and communal dinner at Tromsø Kunstforening on Wednesday, September 19th. As the fall program will be organised around the theme of critical knowledges of everyday life, we will begin by introducing the concept of everyday life as a critical field.
So what is this “everyday life”, exactly? And why would we want to subject it to critical investigation? The introductory seminar will, if not answer, then at least open up these questions by presenting an overview of the politics and poetics of everyday life from a range of theoretical perspectives. The second part of the seminar consists of a workshop where participants are invited to explore ways of visualising and mapping the structure, rhythm and organisation of everyday life.
Throughout the rest of 2026, we will continue to explore this thematics from a variety of perspectives, drawing on artistic practice, architecture, urbanism, anthropology and activism as different but interlinked entry points into the politics and poetics of everyday life. This will form the background for the 2027 spring semester, which will move on to consider the themes of action, agency and consciousness.
More information on the fall program will be published soon!
