About the seminar holders:
Magdalena Haggärde and Gisle Løkken have developed experimental and critical approaches to architecture and planning from their architectural practice 70°N arkitektur in Tromsø, Northern Norway. With a focus in the Arctic context their practice addresses the consumption of natural landscapes and resources, and aspects of urban development and modernity in the light of severe global changes. The work combines various trans-disciplinary methods influenced by anthropology, philosophy, architecture, and artistic studies, and is based on a comprehensive ‘ecosophy,’ understood as social, mental, and environmental ecology. This approach embraces issues of complexity, multiplicity, vulnerability, contingency, and indeterminacy – from where investigations and proposals are centered on notions of openness and planning for an unknown future. The work is constantly evolving and is tested, developed, and processed through commissions, competitions, teaching, academic work, and publications.
Throughout the rest of 2026, we will continue to explore this thematics from a variety of perspectives, drawing on artistic practice, architecture, urbanism, anthropology and activism as different but interlinked entry points into the politics and poetics of everyday life. This will form the background for the 2027 spring semester, which will move on to consider the themes of action, agency and consciousness.
About Dream Academy:
The Dream Academy is a self-organized, experimental art academy for everyone. The Dream Academy builds on the premise that art education is a form of lifelong learning where artistic practice, theoretical reflection and everyday life meet.
