Deterrence and Reassurance
with Toril Johannessen

What is it about?
We are very excited to open a new edition of the exhibition Deterrence and Reassurance with Toril Johannessen
Opening Saturday, May 31st at 2 pm
The exhibition will run from May 31st to August 31st
Deterrence and Reassurance examines how geopolitics and military presence shape society and everyday life in Norway, with a particular focus on Northern Norway. The works in the exhibition form an interwoven civil-military landscape, and thematize how militarization and soft power leave their mark on language, landscape and experiences of safety and unrest.
During the installation period, we will invite audience to a volunteer evening on Tuesday, May 27th at 4-7 pm. Here, anyone who wants to can help sew together the main work in the exhibition, which consists of rug rags woven from military surplus material.
